After a great breakfast, we all loaded up into three cars and drove the scenic loop around through Red River to Taos. Detouring just before arriving in Taos, we drove west for seven miles to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. It was a test for those with "height issues"...but a beautiful sight.
Next we drove into Taos for a lunch at Michael's Kitchen and an afternoon around the plaza shops.
On the drive from Angel Fire to Red River, we were treated to a beautiful drive over Bobcat Pass...... 80 feet shy of 10k feet.
Most of our commuting about, involved three or four cars.
It was fun to lead the Mathis Clan out the highway west of Taos. Basically it is a flat plane of sage brush and then, all of the sudden...... the Rio Grando Gorge opens up below you. Only the brave one's ventured out on the bridge to view the water at the bottom, only 660 feet below.
As with any visit to Taos, we had to spoil ourselves to a lunch at Michael's Kitchen.
After lunch, we headed down to the city center, plaza area. Everyone visited the little shops while Gary and Judy relaxed on a bench and enjoyed the "people watching". Aren't they a cute couple!!!
On the drive back to Taos, we completed the Enchanted Circle Drive, over Palo Flechado Pass at 9,101 feet. The drive down the backside was a twisty, turny challenge.
